So Ive been in Hollywood since Tuesday mixing every day with Mark Needham at his studio. We have been so lucky to work with such amazingly talented people on this record and Mark is another great addition to the list. Check him out being interviewed here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lI-4fODJyiE
For the first time tonight I’ve been able to listen to what I think is 99% the final mixes, bar a few tiny changes which I’m sure we’ll make.
The last few times Ive been in the US Ive created my own timezone and this time its gone even further – literally falling asleep for a couple of hours around 7pm and then back up at 11pm and awake for the rest of the night and all day, kinda living the UK and USA days in full – a double day. All these extra hours are really helping with the writing the 3rd album – already got a lot of new songs.
In the words of Bon Jovi “I’ll sleep when I’m Dead

Death Calculator
I’ve started waking up and immediately naming my dreams, in the same way one names a song, book or film. Last night I was dreaming of a future where we all know the exact date that we will leave this life. I titled the dream Death Calculator and the way in which death is calculated is with a small pocket calculator, the DC. Using different mathematical equations you can keep recalculating how long you have left.
For someone like me, obsessive about schedule’s it actually worked quite well – you know exactly how many days hours months and years you have left so you can allocate exactly the amount of time you would like to dedicate to different pursuits perfectly.
On the other hand the not knowing is quite fun as well
I’m off to Los Angeles to mix the rest of the album at the end of next week – then its time to set about TOURING THE WORLD. I loved touring Europe and the Uk on our first album and getting to travel back to these places has me beyond excited PLUS we will be touring MANY new far flung places. I have to say ever since I saw footage of Queen arriving in Japan in 74 its been a dream of mine – one which is to become true with this album!
Been loving all your artwork you have sent in for our rehearsal room wall, keep it coming

More news coming soon!
WE NEED YOUR PHOTOS AND ARTWORK NOW!
Yesterday we changed our rehearsal room around so we are now set up more like a stage, before we were inward facing which was helpful during the writing stage.
So we are now facing a big white wall, which is not very inspiring.
I closed my eyes and let the music take me to all the venues we have played and all the faces we have seen and then the idea hit me!
YOU NEED TO BE ON OUR WALL!
So here is the plan – We want you to send us photos of yourself in LostAlone T shirts, hoodies etc.. looking at the camera like you are on the front row of a show – also any LostAlone artwork and MESSAGES of where you would like to see us play – ANYTHING you want us to read/see that you think will inspire us while we are rehearsing for tour.
WE NEED TO FILL THE WALL.
Once its full we will get a good photo of it may just end up somewhere in the artwork on forthcoming release
SEND EVERYTHING HERE NOW!

Mine Your Mind
Chaotic minds crave chaotic times
A symbolic loss in the blizzard of life
Like the many reasons to escape this place
A lifetime spent embracing one fate
Wear your war upon your sleeve
A well of thoughts of goals to achieve
But lean to far and you’re falling in
To a well of ideological sins
Panic in the night cause we’re scared to be alive
Have you lost your head, have I lost my mind?
Afraid to be alone but alone is all we are
An incredible force compelling me to scar
I read the last page of the book before the prologue
My cynical mind made me run before I could walk
I had to pre-empt before they took the world away
Are we waging war on life?
Cut the drip from the divine
A Monstrosity To Be Proud OF
Its hard for me to comprehend that this time last week I was waiting to get on a BA flight out of LAX having completed the recording of our new album! This week has literally been a blizzard of reunions and re-acquainting ourselves with all things home. Now things become really interesting as we embark on the mixing of the album and laying out the next few years of touring.
A massive thanks must go out to Greg Wells and Jacknife Lee who I personally believe have helped us create a monstrosity to be proud of.
I love details and right now I’m submerged in the ocean of finery swimming deeper into the darkest depths of all detailier.
Thanks for all the positive vibes and the doses of energy you all sent over to get me through the final hours

kicking me around the globe
I’m sat in the studio in Hollywood about to spend the day putting an insane amount of backing vocals on all the songs – We finish up the tracking of the record on Monday then move into the mixing stage.
These last few days Ive really started to hear out loud all the weight Ive been carrying around in my brain for these past TWO YEARS, and I cant wait for you all to hear it!
I feel totally exhausted and intend to take a couple of weeks in ultimate relaxation mode once I get back to Derby next week before the mechanics of a world wide record deal start kicking me around the globe.
Send me your energy!!
JKL, Good friends & Victory in the search of REAL bread
We spent all of last week on twelve hour days at NRG studios in North Hollywood creating with producer Jacknife Lee. Its so interesting and beneficial to us to have both Greg Wells and JKL working on our record – two totally different approaches and both amazing! I’m really starting to feel the album taking on a life of its own now and I almost feel like I no longer own the music as it twists and fights its way through the desires from which it is both inspired and now inspires.
We had such an amazing night on Saturday meeting up with our great friends in Paramore – I LOVE THEM GUYS! They made us feel so welcome and then to top it all off pulled us up on stage for the last song which was huge fun. They deserve all the success they are having cause they work so hard and are such great people – a true inspiration!
Today (or yesterday for you guys back home in Europe) we took a trip with our engineer Sam over to Malibu where we finally had a VICTORY in our search for BREAD that tastes like home! Thanks to LINDA at YE OLD Kings Head shop Santa Monica (AN EVERY THING ENGLISH SHOP!!) WOW it was Cadburys (which I cant eat cause I’m on Chocolate ban) BAKED BEANS!!!! I could go on and on. Definitely be returning next weekend!
So we return to NRG and more 12 hour days all this week.
Every day in every way we come closer to creating a new chapter in our legacy.
Now its time for Marmite on TOAST and 24 episode 22!
Out of my mind for 48 hours
So the weekend is over and I’m thankful I made it, I was not built to relax and having two days off in the middle of the creative process just sent me crazy. On Saturday I managed to set fire to a potato I was trying to cook in our 17th century excuse for a cooker (how come we are residing in an exclusive apartment in the hills with all the mod cons but they decided to import an oven from a few centuries ago!) Set off the fire alarm just as Alan and Mark returned from a mammoth trek into Hollywood that took them SIX hours (7 minuets in the car!!) Alan was forced to rip the alarm from the wall to shut it up and so now if we do have a fire we have no warning! I’ll call maintenance today.
Week one has been a revelation – Greg Wells is a genius and we have really started to explore the extremities of our band – excited to get back with him in a couple of weeks. Today we start with Jacknife Lee for two solid weeks although the dreaded weekend will appear again (luckily we are going to see our friends band play to 10000 people on Saturday so that should break it up!)
JKL has worked on some of my favorite records and I cant wait to see what he brings to the LostAlone table. Its hard to think that by June 1st we will have an album! Although we still have to have it mixed but for my part it will be done! then time to TOUR THE WORLD!
During the 48 hours of hell I have re watched Lord Of The Rings trilogy, Until the light takes us (documentary on black metal WATCH IT!) A Lil Wayne Documentary he reminds me of me in terms of song output! the American Office and the best new program for being so bad SMASH CUTS!
